Welcome! This guide will help you learn how to make the most of GasPriceWatch.com!
We recommend you spend a few minutes reading about the website and how to use it to improve your experience with it.
After reading this section, please skim over the FAQ/Help section
and lastly check out the Folder Tab that says My Route. Some very powerful features are explained in that section.
Make sure you understand MyPage so you can store your favorite stations in the order you pass them.
The basic function of the website is to help you find the lowest price of gas
in your neighborhood.
You don't have to register to use GasPriceWatch.com. You can start searching right now by using one
of the forms on the left. Go ahead, give it a try. You can always click on First Time Here? up
at the top to come back to this page.
If you would like to help spot and post prices in your neighborhood so others can benefit from our website,
then you must register as a spotter (click here). It's free to join, takes
just a moment and admits you to the ranks of thousands of others who support the search for the lowest price
in town! We currently have over 123,000 volunteers just like you spotting and posting prices, putting in
time to help make this website the best in the United States for keeping a check gas prices.
Our goal is to encourage the low priced leaders in your community by increasing their sales while
punishing the high priced stations by decreasing theirs.
Why is GasPriceWatch.com Different? We are database
driven. (Huh? What does that mean?) All of the 128,000+ stations in GPW are part of huge inventory of gas
stations that our spotters have submitted over the years. If you find a station that is not in GasPriceWatch.com,
you can submit it with the street address, city, zip code and other information. We then take
this information, verify it using various tools, assign
a latitude and
longitude to the station and approve it for posting
on the main GPW website so you can start posting prices. This is time consuming, and, depending on traffic to the website, you may have to wait a couple of days
to see your new station appear, but the extra info makes several of the our advanced search
tools really sing. These include the Zip Code radius search and the Resort by North to South or East to
West (and vice versa). The only way these searches work is by knowing where each and every station is in relationship
to the others.
Getting Around GasPriceWatch.com You can search for US gas prices (all 50 states, Guam, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and other territories) by using our zip code search or our more
advanced search by specifying street, city, state, and so forth. There are also sections for spotters
(our contributors), news, and fuel tax information. Please remember we do rely on volunteers to input the prices
to the system. We have started to work with fuel providers and gas station companies and are now taking their information for their
prices directly from the headquarters of the company. Watch for more news on this one.
For a brief explanation about the types of searches, click on the How Do I...? tab above.

Becoming a Registered Price Spotter As a registered spotter you can update a new gas price using the links mentioned above.
Just place a new price in the box next to the price you want to change and enter your spotter name and password
in the boxes at the bottom of the page and click on the Submit My Updates button. If the price has remained the same
since the last time a spotter submitted the price, you can just click the
Update Time Only box under the price for Regular gasoline. It will update ALL of the prices that are displayed to
the new time and date. If you only know some the prices, just put those ones in and don't check the Update Time box. Once you submit the prices, they are immediately available to everyone else
to view. You get 10 points when you update a price. Check to see your points by entering the MyPage section of the
website (by clicking the My Page tab). Please log in to view all your options.
Your own personal section: My Page on GasPriceWatch.com This is a very powerful section of the website for registered spotters who drive a
regular route. If you pass the same stations every day and want an easy way to put the prices into GasPriceWatch.com,
this feature is for you.
When you are searching GasPriceWatch.com and you see a station you pass on your regular route, you can actually save
it to My Page by clicking on the Add to My Page check box just under the MAP button. Make sure your spotter ID and
password are in place at the bottom of the page and click on the Submit button and you will have saved that station
to your My Page. When you go back to view your stations in the My Page section via the folder tab at the top of the
main page, login and your station will be sorted according to the "priority" you set for each station.
