Getting Around GasPriceWatch.com

You can search for US gas prices (all 50 states and Guam) by using our zip code search or our more advanced search by specifying street, city, state, and so forth. There are also sections for spotters (our contributors), news, and fuel tax information.

Each section is directly reachable using the main navigation bar on the left side of your browser's window. We have included some short cuts here to help you understand the just how large this site is.

Zip Code Search

Want to check gas prices in your zip code? Make sure you also choose a distance - or radius - to see a larger pool of stations you pass by. Head to
http://www.gaspricewatch.com/USGas_Index.asp to search for a US Gasoline price.

You will notice that you can sort the gas price results page by state, city, station, zip code, and even by the grade of gasoline in which you are interested. The default sort for prices after searching is by the lowest priced regular gas in that area.

Particular Search

Looking for a particular station or brand of gas? How about all the stations in a particular city, or maybe on a particular street? Use the advanced gas price search tool at
http://www.gaspricewatch.com/USGas_Search.asp for US Gasoline

You will notice that you can sort the gas prices results page by state, city, station, zip code, and even by the grade of gasoline you are interested in. The default sort for prices after searching is by the lowest priced regular gas in that area.

You can see when a price was posted on the website by placing your mouse cursor over the  symbol. You can view the color legend at the top right hand section of every gas price search results page.

Becoming a Registered Price Spotter

As a registered spotter you can update a new gas price using the links mentioned above.  Just check the boxes on the left for each station you have a new price(s) for, and then enter your spotter name and password in the boxes at the bottom of the page and click on the Update Prices button. You can now enter the prices and submit them to the database. Even if the price has not changed, enter your data regardless, so the data will be more recent. You get 10 points when you update a price. Check to see your points by entering the MyPage section of the website at http://www.gaspricewatch.com/CheckYourPoints.asp. Please log in to view all your options.

If you know of a gas station(s) but can't find it among the 125,000 stations we currently track, then please add the stations information at http://www.gaspricewatch.com/USGas_AddStation.asp. You must be a registered user to use this feature. Please be as thorough as possible in describing the station. Exact street address and the correct city are the two most important pieces of information to provide us so that we can have our database people identify the latitude and longitude for that station. The more information you enter, the faster we can add the station. You can check the status to see if the station you added had any problems being found at http://www.gaspricewatch.com/checkyourpoints.asp. You also get 50 points for adding a new station to GasPriceWatch.com.

Your own personal section: MyPage on GasPriceWatch.com

This is a very powerful section of the website for registered spotters who drive a regular route. If you pass the same stations every day and want an easy way to put the prices into GasPriceWatch.com, this feature is for you.

When you are searching GasPriceWatch.com and you see a station you pass on your regular route, you can actually save it to MyPage by clicking on the Add to MyPage link in green just under the gas station address and telephone number. When you go back to view your stations in the MyPage section, click on http://www.gaspricewatch.com/checkyourpoints.asp, and then the View My Stations link at the bottom of the page. Now instead of searching various zip codes or streets, you will see only those stations you pass. You can sort the results by any of the links in green just above the prices. You can also prioritize up to 20 stations by setting the priorities inside your MyPage stations. You set the first station on your route to number 1, second to number 2, etc. until your gas station path is set. Priority numbers can range from 1 to 255. (Please note you can register under another spotter name and put a separate route in that MyPage, but you cannot combine the points of two spotter names currently. You must also provide another email address for the second spotter name.).
